چکیده

EGFR: epidermal growth factor receptor NSCLC: nonesmall cell lung cancer INTRODUCTION Both scarring and nonscarring alopecias have been described with the long-term use of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitors. Current treatments revolve around anti-inflammatory agents such as topical corticosteroid ointments, creams, and intralesional injections to reduce follicular inflammation. Unfortunately, none of these therapies are universally effective. Here, we describe a case of erlotinib-induced alopecia refractory to intralesional and topical corticosteroids that was successfully treated with doxycycline as a novel treatment approach for EGFR inhibitoreassociated alopecia.

Successful Treatment of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Inhibitor-Induced Periungual Inflammation with Adapalene

Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitors are increasingly used for cancer treatment, but commonly carry dermatologic side effects. Periungual inflammation is a particularly painful condition that additionally worsens quality of life. In this paper, we report 3 cases of successful treatment of periungual inflammation induced by 3 different EGFR inhibitors (gefitinib, erlotinib, and cet...

2D-QSAR and docking studies of 4-anilinoquinazoline derivatives as epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors

Introduction: Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor derivatives play an important role in the treatment of cancer. We aim to construct 2D-QSAR models using various chemometrics using 4-anilinoquinazoline-containing EGFR TKIs. In addition, the binding profile of these compounds was evaluated using a docking study. Materials and Methods: In this study, 122 compounds of...

Molecular Docking Based on Virtual Screening, Molecular Dynamics and Atoms in Molecules Studies to Identify the Potential Human Epidermal Receptor 2 Intracellular Domain Inhibitors

Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) is a member of the epidermal growth factor receptor family having tyrosine kinase activity. Overexpression of HER2 usually causes malignant transformation of cells and is responsible for the breast cancer. In this work, the virtual screening, molecular docking, quantum mechanics and molecular dynamics methods were employed to study protein–ligand ...

Successful erlotinib rechallenge after both gefitinib- and erlotinib-induced interstitial lung diseases

Epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors, gefitnib and erlotinib, are effective for advanced nonsmall-cell lung cancer with epidermal growth factor receptor gene mutation. However, interstitial lung disease induced by these drugs is sometimes fatal, and discontinuation of the medication is the principle approach once this occurs. There are, however, some reports of cases in w...

Role for the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor in Chemotherapy-Induced Alopecia

Treatment of cancer patients with chemotherapeutics like cyclophosphamide often causes alopecia as a result of premature and aberrant catagen. Because the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signals anagen hair follicles to enter catagen, we hypothesized that EGFR signaling may be involved in cyclophosphamide-induced alopecia. To test this hypothesis, skin-targeted Egfr mutant mice were gen...
